About Five Joys
Five Joys was born during a crucial point in my life.
I was a young mother of 2 small boys. I felt lost, engulfed in the throes of motherhood. I didn’t know what brought me joy. I felt as though I hadn’t felt joy in forever.
Then came to my mind five moments of true joy. Over time I came to better understand what those moments of joy meant for my life and why we feel joy in the first place.
I set out to write a book about it. I did that. But I had a strong desire to build a community of people who sought joy. I believed that the individual pursuit of joy would be magnified by a community built with the same pursuit and intention. So I set out to make an app. When I felt that wasn’t the right avenue I sought another path.
This year I was introduced to a new site called Tribalry. They build groups around the theme of a tribe. I instantly fell in love with the purpose behind the site, the interface and the integrity of those building it. Tribalry was the perfect fit for Five Joys.
It allows me to share my thoughts on joy and publish a guide for others to follow. It helps me gather like-minded people and organize events to draw them out from behind their computers and phones into the real world to interact with others and give back some joy to the world.
I especially love that I am now able to personally interact with all those who read Five Joys and participate online and at the meet ups. It is an honor to listen to those who need an hear and to be able to offer suggestions for discovering joy within their personal circumstances.
I have now been married for 11 years, have 6 kids, two passionate blogs, a tribe who inspires me with each post, a way to give back all I have learned and live each day with purpose and joy. This journey feels complete, if only it didn’t also feel like it is just beginning.
